(Q) Derivation

 

(A) Gezeirah Shava. Two verses have the word “rasha,” wicked man, in them and,  therefore, they are compared. One is regarding lashes and one is regarding Capital punishment.

 

“That he is a rasha (wicked) to die,” (Bemidbar 35,31)

“And it shall be that if the rasha (wicked one) is liable to lashes,” (Devarim 25,2)
